In celebration of International Museum Day, the third iteration of the award-winning Longest Night of Museums event features virtual tours of 19 of the world’s top naval museums, as well as panel discussions and exclusive Twitch interactive content drops!
Wargaming, developer and publisher of the leading, free-to-play naval combat game World of Warships (WoWS), is announcing the return of Longest Night of Museums—its third annual naval historical showcase to mark International Museum Day. With 19 virtual tours of maritime museums, the Longest Night of Museums livestream event will take viewers on a journey around the globe and feature informative discussion panels and Q&A sessions with special guests. Hosted on the World of Warships Twitch channel from May 18, 10:00 AM UTC, the livestream event will also host interactive quizzes with special in-game prizes up for grabs, as well as plenty of dedicated Longest Night of Museums Twitch content drops.
The third instalment of Longest Night of Museums continues World of Warships’ mission to celebrate and support the work that naval museums and heritage sites do to preserve maritime history. Bringing together 19 different naval museums from around the world, Longest Night of Museums will kick off its 2023 event in Croatia at the Nikola Tesla Technical Museum, before taking viewers to Brazil, the Netherlands, and Chile. The evening will take us to HMS Belfast in the United Kingdom, and then on to the U.S.A.; Australia; and South Korea, where we’ll finish the event by taking a journey through Hamsang Park. “We’re immensely proud to be bringing back Longest Night of Museums for the third year running. What started off as a way to raise awareness about the challenges many museums had to face during the pandemic has evolved into a fan-favorite museum project,” says Marko Valentic, Global Business Development and Communications Director at Wargaming. “As the largest digital ship museum in the world, World of Warships works closely with naval museums worldwide to preserve and amplify the historical legacy of these ships and the people who served on them. We’re excited to be joined by so many wonderful museums from around the globe and to celebrate International Museum Day together with our community.”
In addition to the guided virtual tours, the Longest Night of Museums livestream event will also include a special screening of the documentary “Surrender on the USS Missouri,” from the event’s media partner, MagellanTV. This will be followed by a discussion with the award-winning director, Tim Gray, and discussion panels throughout the evening with the Historical Naval Ships Association and the United States Navy Institute, a long-time partner of World of Warships. Players who tune into the livestream on Twitch can also get involved, as World of Warships will be releasing three different free in-game content drops as the night progresses. Alongside these drops, Longest Night of Museums will also feature quizzes with special in-game prizes up for grabs.
Special bonus codes for existing and new players will also be featured on museum websites and social media for this special occasion!
