Prof. Shmuel Feiner (Bar Ilan University) is one of the world’s leading experts on Jewish Enlightenment (Haskalah) and European Jewish History in the 18^th and 19^th centuries. His many works are much celebrated and awarded and include The Jewish Enlightenment (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2004); Haskalah and History, The Emergence of a Modern Jewish Historical Consciousness (Littman Library of Jewish Civilization, 2002); Moses Mendelssohn (Yale University Press, 2010) and The Jewish Eighteenth Century, A European Biography, 1700-1750, 2 vols.
