Royal Netherlands Historical Society panel session during the annual meeting of the American Historical Society 2024

On January 4 through 7, the Royal Netherlands Historical Society’s American sister association, the American Historical Association (AHA), hosted its annual congress – this time in San Francisco. RNHS considers it important to be present at this major annual congress for historians. Therefore director Antia Wiersma traveled on behalf of the RNHS to this city on the American West Coast. Wiersma not only participated in the congress, but also presented during a panel session on open access publishing in the Netherlands, for which RHNS had taken the initiative in 2023.

During the session “Open Access in the Netherlands,” Wiersma talked about the state of play regarding the implementation of Plan S in the European Union and in the Netherlands in particular. She then presented the Dutch open access journal platform Open Journals, of which RNHS was one of the initiators. You can find the slides of this presentation in the right column.

Wiersma also wrote a general impression of the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Amrican Historical Association.
