UvA | Lecturer Cultural History (docent 4)

You are active in the research field of cultural history, and can communicate about this field accessibly and clearly. You are interested in interdisciplinary teaching and research.You are enthusiastic about teaching, and you have a keen eye for the diverse backgrounds and specific needs of students. You can handle a considerable work load in teaching, which is sometimes unevenly split over the semester.

Your experience and profile

• You have an MA degree in a relevant discipline;
• You have attained the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ). If you do not yet have the UTQ, you will be obliged to take part in the UTQ track.
• You are pedagogically/didactically competent (able to cater to students’ starting situation, to teach a curriculum that has already been developed, to supervise students and to make an active contribution in meetings with fellow lecturers).
• You have a good command of the Dutch language or are willing to learn Dutch.
• You are able to teach in English.

Preference will be given to candidates with some experience in teaching.

We offer a temporary employment contract for a period of four years with a probationary period of two months. The employment contract is for 30,4 hours a week. Preferred starting date is 01 January 2024.

The gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and relevant experience, ranges between € 3.226 to € 5.090. This sum does not include the 8% holiday allowance and the 8,3% year-end allowance. A favourable tax agreement, the ‘30% ruling’, may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The Collective Labour Agreement of Dutch Universities is applicable.
