Teaching Assistants at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Department of History, Society Studies or Political Science

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASoS) is looking for Teaching Assistants (0,8 fte, 4 years).

You contribute to teaching in the fields of Science, Technology and Society, contemporary European history, Globalisation and Development Studies, History and (Political) Philosophy, and/or Digital Society. Teaching duties include courses in the BA programme European Studies, the BA programme Arts and Culture, the BA programme Digital Society (subject to accreditation) and the MA programme Globalisation and Development Studies of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.  Your teaching activities will take 100% of your contract time. Please note that this is a teaching position, which might not be suitable for people who (almost) hold a PhD degree, or they must specifically aim for a teaching job.

Functie-eisen

  • a Master’s degree in one of the above-mentioned fields.
  • the ability to trigger student learning and participation in group discussions and to be an inspiring and stimulating supervisor. Previous experience in working with innovative, interdisciplinary learning approaches and problem-based teaching methods are an asset.
  • an excellent command of English (oral and written), the faculty’s main language of instruction.
  • openness to interdisciplinary work.
  • being a team player.

We offer a 0,8 appointment as Teaching Assistant (Docent 4) for 4 years. The job description consists only of teaching activities (no research assignments).

Remuneration will be according to standard salary levels, depending on education and relevant work experience. This implies a gross monthly salary of about €2.709,00 per month, scale level 10 (based on a full-time appointment). Each year the standard salary is supplemented with a holiday allowance of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8.3%.

The university’s relocation policy stipulates that the selected candidate must move to (the vicinity of) Maastricht. If not already living in Maastricht (or its direct surroundings), s/he will be eligible for an allowance for moving costs or for an allowance for alternative housing. Other secondary conditions include e.g. a pension scheme and partially paid parental leave as well as a shared office space and a PC.
