Open science is the term used in the scientific community to describe making research information available at an early stage of research and sharing it with other researchers as well as interested (and informed) laypeople. This includes not only publications but also raw data (sets) and developed software and code.
The goal of open science is to enhance the quality and impact of scientific research. Open science also emphasizes an open academic culture and mutual collaboration, with a strong focus on recognizing and valuing all members of a research team.
