On 1 July, the KNAW Humanities Cluster has started the design and construction of an Open Access journals platform, OpenJournals.nl. OpenJournals.nl offers an affordable and sustainable publication alternative for journals in the humanities and social sciences. This publication platform offers the opportunity for humanities scholars and social scientists to publish without financial barriers in relevant, peer-reviewed journals that are fully open access available.
As a learned society and publisher of the open access journal BMGN – Low Countries Historical Review (BMGN), KNHG is closely involved with the realization of OpenJournals. Recently, it hosted a digital lunch about this topic. Furthermore, KNHG offers a dossier on its Dutch website concerning the relevant developments regarding publishing in open access journals and platforms, Plan S and cOAlition S.
